 "Through
my paintings I show the mystery, the beauty and the passion of Nature,
both in America and in Africa.. I also express the tragedy of my native
Zimbabwe. I was brought up on a farm in the country. The bush was my
playground, wild animals my companions.”
Gabrielle Moore-Gordon
was trained in Studio Art in Switzerland and in Hong Kong.
Many years ago, Gabrielle started painting animals because of her grave
concern for the fate of wildlife in Africa. A portion of the sales of
her paintings is donated to the David Shepherd Conservation for the
Preservation of Endangered Species. Through the brush she also expresses
her awareness for the plight of the people in Africa. She visits her
native Zimbabwe frequently to gather material for her artwork, as well
as to work in her studio there.
Gabrielle also lives and works on The Hippo, a houseboat in Sausalito,
California, USA. Living on the water gives her unique opportunities to
paint the birdlife in the area.
The artist’s paintings are extraordinary, multi-layered watercolors that
show an innate, deep-rooted empathy for her subject matter and the
environment. Her technique is sophisticated yet hasn’t lost the courage
to experiment. Many of the paintings are on rice paper which gives a
translucence and delicacy to even the most massive of subject matter.
Gabrielle’s Studio and Gallery on the Hippo are open to the public.
Original watercolors, both framed and unframed, are available as well as
prints of the original work. |
