Gabrielle Moore-Gordon
Africa Artist Chosen to Exhibit at Sausalito Art Festival
Watercolorist Gabrielle Moore-Gordon, a 10-year resident of
the Sausalito houseboat community, is from Zimbabwe and specializes in painting
her fascinating but endangered native African wildlife. Her extensive work is
internationally known, with numerous exhibits in North America, Asia, Europe and
Africa.
Gabrielle’s strong but loose watercolor style gives her
wildlife paintings an intensity, liveliness and intimacy not usually found in
most wildlife art. But then her subject matter is very close to her heart as
Zimbabwe’s animals and people go through their current tragic crisis.
Gabrielle is one of only 260 artists out of 1500 entrees
chosen to exhibit at the Sausalito Art Festival – recognized as the #1 Outdoor
Fine Arts Festival in America. Gabrielle will be exhibiting not only her African
wildlife paintings but also many works of local animals and birdlife.
Gabrielle’s watercolorist career has spanned 25 years
starting with her art education in Geneva, Switzerland and Hong Kong through her
present work in N. California. She and her works were recently featured at the
pre-release screening of A Walk with Lions, starring Richard Harris, the
story of the George Adamson of Born Free fame.
The Sausalito Art Festival will be held Labor Day weekend,
September 2,3, and 4, 2000. The Festival hours are Saturday and Sunday, 9 AM to
6 PM; Monday 9 AM to 5 PM. The Festival is held at the Bay Model Visitor Center
and Marineship Park on the historic Sausalito Waterfront.
The Sausalito Art Festival continues its long-standing
mission of supporting the arts and community non-profit organizations through
grant programs, artist awards, scholarships, and the Sausalito Chamber of
Commerce’s community service programs. Through this support, the Festival has
made a significant investment in the future of its community since 1952.
